Used And Vintage Acoustic Guitars

Simply put, this is one of the best acoustic guitars that we have in the store, and perhaps one of the best we've ever had.  It's not surprising, as it's a Bourgeois.

Combining thermo-cured wood, a hard, extremely thin finish exhibiting the crystalline tone of naturally aged nitrocellulose lacquer and other innovations, Dana Bourgeois creates guitars with vintage looks, feel and tone that are anything but just another replica.  Each Bourgeois guitar is built with the same unwavering attention to detail, using the finest tonewoods and a reliance on hand-assembly.  To this day, Dana meticulously oversees the top and back voicing of every guitar and approves selection of all tonewoods, skills that have become legendary in the world of acoustic guitar lutherie.

Some guitars have a sweet niche. Few credibly occupy all of them.  The OM is the third largest 14 fret body size in the 0/00/000-OM/JOM-GA progression, and differentiates from the 000 by its 25.5” long scale neck.  A very popular body size – and probably the second-most popular acoustic guitar worldwide – it’s no coincidence that the “Orchestra Model” appeals equally to fingerstyle players and flatpickers, thanks to its unparalleled combination of balance, presence, power and comfortable playability. It wasn’t always that way. Once relegated to the history books, the OM began a slow resurgence in the mid 1980s after Schoenberg Guitars, co-founded by Dana, teamed up with C.F. Martin to introduce the first production-made OM since the 1930s.  Along with the OM-innovative Large Soundhole option for increased flatpicking performance, and with cutaway and arm bevel options for additional playability and comfort, this guitar can do it all.

An exotic rare species of wood, Panama Rosewood is both light and stiff, delivering a mouthwatering tone full of warmth and complexity found in highly sought after species like Brazilian Rosewood.  Very few guitars are made with Panama Rosewood - we wish more were!  It's cost prohibitive (understandably so, as it's hard to get) but for those that demand the best, it's one of the best options out there.  Not only does it sound amazing, it also looks stunning.  Be sure to view all of the photos.

The Aged Tone Adirondack Sprue top offers an optimized stiffness to weight ratio, making it one of our favorite soundboard materials.  It creates a very balanced output, full of projection, without being harsh or boomy.  It's a prefect complement to the Panama Rosewood back & sides.  Each guitar that Bourgeois makes is hand voiced.  Through an extraordinarily refined method of precise brace carving and tap tuning, their process of hand voicing ensures that every guitar they make has a soundboard that is optimized for its tonal capability.

The Honduran Mahogany neck, topped with an Ebondy fretboard, is extremely comfortable to play - this is one that can stay in your hands for hours without a concern.

The Herringbone purfling, the Mother of Pearl logo on the rosewood headstock veneer, and perfectly executed ivoroid binding all add premium touches to an already top-shelf guitar.  There's a reason that Bourgeois is one of the mostly highly regarded names in the acoustic world.  As soon as this one walked in the door, we saw exactly why.

The guitar is in excellent condition - almost perfect, other than a few tiny marks on the headstock.  It was just purchased this year, and then brought to us by a customer that decided to go in a different direction for his acoustic needs.  These are very hard to get, and we were thrilled to take it in.  It comes with the original hardhsell case.
