Pre-Owned Carr Mercury Black 1x12" Guitar Amp Combo

We just took in another great boutique amp that can be hard to find - a Carr Mercury.   Based in Pittsboro, NC, Carr has been building super high quality hand-wired tube amps for years, and is known for being reliable, built to last, and full of multi-dimensional tone.

The Mercury has been one of their flagship models for decades.  Here we have an 8 watt version (different than the current Mercury V model that goes to 16 watts).  Featuring Carr's forte of an onboard attenuator, it can rock at the full 8 watts or be scaled down to the perfect apartment amp, while still keeping the classic tone and responsiveness.

This excellent hand wired Carr Mercury is in excellent condition. We noticed the toggle switch is a bit wobbly but it still works as it should.  The amp has very little play time on it and has never left the previous owners home studio.  So, it's a great deal on a great amp!

The Mercury reinvents a long-standing Carr platform to deliver snarling Marshall-esque British tones with a highly evolved feature set and surprising versatility. From thick cleans, to punchy midrangey crunch, to wailing roar, it’s all here with attitude to spare. Rendered in a supremely portable package and able to nail all reduced-volume requirements, the Mercury brings stack-like sonic thunder to the rehearsal room, studio, and club stage.  In 2003 Vintage Guitar magazine’s cover story declared the original Mercury the ‘Tone of the Gods.’  It's versatile design enabling a broad range of gain structures, voicing capabilities and output levels to tackle just about any genre or playing style.

The Mercury harnesses an ingeniously original preamp circuit featuring a three-position Boost switch, and the ability to kick out a dynamic range of distinctly English tones. The reverb is lush and excellent for clean playing.  The tone of this amp is quite amazing, and you get a variety of sounds out of it.

It’s all put together with the top-quality parts and construction that Carr is famous for, including in-house crafted dovetailed solid North Carolina yellow pine cabinets, military and NASA-grade power supply components, and trenchant mid-Century signal elements rendered in true point-to-point wiring.

This is quite the find and could go fast, so don't sleep on it.
