We have an exceptional and rare acoustic with this Martin M-21 Steve Earle Custom Edition. Developed in collaboration between legendary singer-songwriter Steve Earle and renowned luthier Matt Umanov, this instrument combines the M body style's distinctive size with 000 depth for a balanced, powerful tone. This exact guitar was from a limited run and is #22 of fewer than 200 ever made!

Steve Earle designed this guitar with Matt Umanov of the legendary Umanov Guitars in New York City.  After finding a vintage Martin M there, Earle fell in love, leading to the development of the Martin M-21 Steve Earle Custom Edition.  It showcases this body style’s big, balanced sound and playing comfort in an elegant yet affordable package.  Martin did as a one time sequenced run, and this is just the 22nd made.  It includes a soundhole label signed by both Earle and Umanov.

At first glance, you'll not only notice the unique size and shape, but also the beautiful finish.  The Amber Burst treatment is tastefully done, retaining a vintage vibe for the guitar.  We fell in love immediately.

This Martin M-21 comes in a resonant Orchestra model-size that is quite comfortable.  Expertly crafted by Martin in Nazareth, PA, it has an Italian spruce top with forward-shifted scalloped bracing, paired with East Indian rosewood back and sides. There is no doubt this body brings you plenty of rich tones with incredible depth with everything from deep lows and mids and plenty of sparkle in the top end. It has plenty of sustain and harmonic complexity. You get a blend of classic Style 21 appointments with Style 18 rosette and Style 28 checkerboard backstrip, and tortoise-color binding.

The set mahogany neck features a very easy to play low-profile with a bone nut and Indian rosewood fingerboard with a satin finish that's perfect for long hours of use. It has a unique set of dot inlays ending with the 17th fret dot marker for a more minimalist look.  We noticed right away how comfortable it is to play.

The polished gloss lacquer finish on the body and aging toner on the top and tortoise-style pickguard are excellent pairing that really adds an elegant touch. The Waverly open-gear tuners with butterbean buttons brings you vintage style and feel matched with impeccable tuning precision. The bone saddle and East Indian rosewood bridge provide stability, excellent intonation, and incredible sustain. 

For those that want to get amplified, you're covered - this guitar is loaded with a Fishman pickup/preamp that will deliver the true acoustic sound to your amp or PA system.
