Pre Owned Fender Custom Shop True '62 Journeyman Relic Stratocaster Lake Placid Blue

We just took in a killer Fender Custom Shop Stratocaster, this special run model done by Willcutt Guitars in Kentucky.  It was created based on one of the best guitars that had come through their shop during their 50 years - an original 1962 Strat that is now owned by the great blues guitarist Eugene Woods.  In their words, of all the Strats they've seen, "One stands out as the most exceptional in tone, playability, and overall  musical stability."  Willcutt asked the Custom Shop to recreate the guitar in a variety of colors, and this one is a great example.

The Alder body is quite resonant, with a thin nitrocellulose lacquer finish.  The color is one of the most classic 60's Fender looks, Lake Placid Blue.  It has the Journeyman Relic finish package, so you get some light relic work but nothing too extreme - it's very tastefully done.  Where the guitar really stands out is the neck - it's AA Flamed Maple, capped with a nice dark AAA Rosewood fretboard.  While this guitar screams vintage, it does have the modern tweak of a 9.5" radius and 6105 (Narrow Tall) frets for easy playability.

The pickups were designed to perfectly recreate that vintage '62 Strat, custom wound for a sweet, full bodied tone.  They're very well balanced, so no matter how you set the selector switch, the output is even and the sound goes exactly where you want.  

Other features include a vintage style bridge with a shallow drilled trem block, vintage tuners, and a bone nut.  Willcutt went all out on this one, and it's a great creation!

The guitar came to us without the case or COA, which is reflected in the price.  The guitar is in excellent condition.  The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly, and it's ready to go!
