Vintage Fender 1965 Stratocaster Refinished Dark Red with Case

Are you ready for a legendary vintage guitar? How about one that doesn't cost as much as a new car? Every now and then we come across a guitar that represents an opportunity for players that want a player - and this is one of those. Here is a vintage Fender Stratocaster from 1965. That's the same year that NASA flew a ship by Mars, Muhammad Ali defeated Sonny Liston and Rubber Soul was released by The Beatles.
If you're reading this, you know that the Strat is one of the most iconic guitars ever made. Everything from its solid contoured body, bolt-on neck, three single-coil pickups, and expressive tremolo system, to its overall style and sound, creates something often imitated but never duplicated. The mid 1960's were a time of change for the company, with 1965 in particular being a big year - it was the end of the Leo Fender era. Guitars from this year have always been in high demand, commanding top dollar. Here's a chance to get one for much less.
The techs in our shop have done a full diagnosis and vetting - here's what's going on with this Strat:
- The guitar has been refinished (this is not the original finish). It's now a very interesting color - we've officially called it Dark Red, and it seems to have a gray/charcoal primer underneath.
- Body has been routed out under the pickguard, filled in and then re-routed a second time.
- The pickups are not original but they are vintage Fender pickups from the 1970's.
- The potentiometers are new
- Original Nut has been replaced
- Refretted (closest to 6150's)
The refinish specs for itself - or perhaps we should say that the photos do. Be sure to check them all out to see the condition. The wear and aging on this guitar gives it a true vintage look, full of vibe and authenticity. In some ways, so does the routing work underneath the pickguard - it's simply what players often did to Strats over the years.
The bridge, tuners and other hardware is all original. Of course, this guitar is not for the vintage aficionado - it's for the player that wants a vintage vibe and history, ready to hit the road. That's what this guitar is. What really matters is that it plays amazingly well, sounds killer and has true vintage mojo.
This 1965 Strat was vetted and setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. A hardshell case is included (not original). At this price, we don't see it lasting long.
