1954 was the first year of the Les Paul, and this reissue is a true knockout! Everything is present to recreate the past, from its pickups and hardware, to the iconic gold finish. Here for your musical pleasure is this Gibson Custom Shop 1954 Les Paul Goldtop.

Players consider the Gibson Custom Shop to be a pinnacle point in the world guitar building.  The crafsmanship, quality and sound excellence that comes out of there is second to none.  Each instruments celebrates Gibson's legacy through accuracy authentcity and attention to deal - and this particular guitar is a great example.

This Les Paul reissue comes with the iconic single-cut body composed of a lightweight one-piece mahogany back with a two-piece maple top bound with hide glue. You will love its gold finish with all its luster. This body is resonant and chock full of tone. The Long Tenon joint with hide glue transfers the vibration down the neck and the string vibration transfers directly to the body through its wraparound bridge and the studs in the body. The mahogany neck comes with a 12" radius and 50s neck profile that is bit thicker but really comfy in the hands. There is an Indian rosewood fingerboard with 22 narrow/tall frets with aged cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays. This being the premier year of the Les Paul, so many of its appointments set the standard of what a Les Paul is. Both the body and neck are bound with a 1-ply Royalite binding. 

Some guitar greats have made this version of the Les Paul theirs such as Freddie King and Jeff Beck.  There's a reason why - there's only one way to get this tone, and it's a Les Paul with pickups like these.

With a pair of P90s this gives this Les Paul a historic distinction from its latter years. These P90 pickups give you a thick single-coil punch but still has the sparkle and dynamics especially in the top end. Some tones are at your fingertips with these pickups and you can find them easily with individual volume and tone controls and its 3-way pickup selector. 

This Gibson Custom Shop '54 Les Paul Goldtop has Kluson tuners, a wraparound bridge, gold speed knobs, and a cream tip. This is everything you want from this historic year of the Les Paul.  They did it right, that's for sure.  Also, this one is a nice weight - it comes in at 8.5 lbs.

This guitar is in excellent condition - the previous owner took great care of it.  Over the years, the finish has aged nicely, and there is some finish checking, which adds to the vibe.  It comes with the original hardshell case, case candy, and certificate of authenticity.   The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly, and it's ready for it's next home.
