For those looking for the peak of prewar Martin guitars in a reissue, this Martin D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged in Natural is it! This is an incredible tribute to the most revered acoustic guitar ever created, the pre-war Martin D-28 dreadnought. This model was handcrafted in Nazareth, Pennsylvania by Martin’s elite Custom Shop luthiers and brings you incredible tones, feel, and the authentic look of its vintage inspiration.

We just took this one, and it's in excellent condition - essentially, it's an opportunity to get a like new D-28 Authentic 1937 Aged for way less than a new one.  Vetted and setup by the techs in our shop, it's ready for it's next home.

This exceptional reissue is built using historically accurate hide-glue construction and an authentic 1937 forward-shifted, hand-scalloped X-bracing pattern. Experience the holy grail of tone wood combinations with a solid, premium Adirondack Spruce top paired with solid Guatemalan Rosewood back and sides. This combination delivers the legendary, low-end bass, expressive mids and crystal clear highs. This model is a real standout from the its D-18 counterpart with even more warmth thanks to its rosewood back and sides. The guitar is treated with its Vintage Tone System (VTS) which is designed to give it a more open sound that replicates the cellular structure of a century-old soundboard. 

The feel of this instrument is incredibly authentic, with its solid mahogany neck carved into the exact 1937 Barrel and Heel profile. This chunky, hand-shaped carve profile feels full and supportive in the hands. The solid ebony fingerboard features a traditional 16" radius, period-correct abalone diamond and square inlays, and a 1-3/4" nut width, giving you the perfect string spacing for both powerful flatpicking and fingerstyle playing. To complete the pre-war experience, Martin’s Stage 1 Aging process delicately applies a fine weather-checked lacquer and lightly patinated hardware. 

This dreadnought is a literal cannon, producing a rich, complex tones with a level of dynamic headroom that you can't find in modern acoustic guitars. Every detail is present with everything from authentic t-frets and bone nut and saddle to the traditional under-finish cloth strip reinforcements along the interior rims. Around the body, you also get period-correct grained ivoroid binding and a classic multi-stripe rosette.
