Used And Vintage Acoustic Guitars

As a Martin dealer for decades, we've had a lot of amazing acoustics in here - but every now & then, one comes in that really grabs our attention.  This is one of those times.

This Custom D-42 Limited Edition, of which only 50 were produced, is an excellent example of Martin legendary sound and craftsmanship. Their history and pedigree speak for itself.   The guitar features Carpathian spruce top with aging toner,  and East Indian rosewood back and sides.  The entire instrument is framed with European flamed maple binding, the ebony fingerboard is graced with “snowflake” position inlays, while the sound hole is encircled by shimmering abalone.  It includes forward-shifted X-bracing, a high-performance neck taper for easy playability, nickel open-gear tuners, and an abalone rosette with multi-stripe border and abalone fingerboard inlay.  This full-bodied dreadnought is extremely comfortable to play for hours on end.    And of course, it looks amazing.  Be sure to check out all of the photos to see the fine detail.


As beautiful as this D-42 Custom is, the aesthetics are surpassed by the tone.  It has magnificent warm, rounded highs, luxurious lows, and present midrange frequencies.  The Carpathian spruce top is similar in tonality to other European spruce tops but has a wider dynamic range and more headroom.  This allows you to really dig in when strumming, with the top able to hang in there, creating a rich, vibrant and fully balanced tone.  Forward shifted, scalloped bracing contributes to the quick attack, strong projection, natural harmonics, and beautiful top-end shimmer on a hand-made dreadnought.  The sound is a solid acknowledgment of vintage “Golden Era” guitars.

The guitar is in excellent shape - the previous owner was obviously very meticulous in his care for it.  We've gotten a lot of guitars from him, and all of them are in this condition.  He's a collector, and said that this one had only been played a few times.  It's been setup by the techs in our shop and is ready to go.  The original hardshell case is included.

In addition to just being a perfect example of exactly what a dreadnought guitar should be, this small run was limited to 50 pieces for the entire world, so it's a true collector's piece. Whether you're a Martin fanatic, a collector of rare guitars, or simply want one of the best acoustic guitars that money can buy, then this could be the one.  Make it yours before it's gone.
