PRS's Private Stock program originated in 1996 to bring Paul's unique instrument designs to life outside of traditional manufacturing methods. With meticulous crafting and personalized customization, each guitar in this program is a carefully crafted masterpiece. Here we have a special Private Stock build, which was new here not too long ago, after we had designed it with PRS directly.  We sold it to a long-time customer/collector friend of ours, and now it's available again as part of an estate collection.  The guitar was never displayed in our store - it was sold as soon as it arrived.  Then, it was never played, only kept safely in a climate controlled studio, so it's in pristine shape.  The original hardshell case, Certificate of Authenticity, and everything else is included.  Essentially, it's new - but since it was previously owned, we're listing it as used.  Setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, this amazing guitar is ready to go.

Truetone Music is proud to represent PRS in general, but even more so to be a part of a select group of Private Stock dealers.  In the world of guitars, this is the upper echelon, and we take this status seriously.

Every guitar is carefully conceived and built with a “one-off” mentality.  All Private Stock woods are carefully housed in “The Vault” just outside of Paul’s office.  Finish is the moment where an instrument takes on much of its personality.  The process is proven to highlight the elegance and figure of the woods chosen.  Inlay is another part of the Private Stock process with nearly infinite options and combinations, as a way to personalize the instrument.  From those materials to the top-shelf pickups and hardware, a Private Stock guitar represents the ultimate in craftsmanship and quality, as well as collectibility.

This PRS Private Stock McCarty 594 (serial # PS11110) is a perfect example.  Truetone Music designed this guitar with PRS to bring something unique to the offering.  We knew it would be amazing, but when it landed, we were blown away.

The Curly Maple top has a Replicant Purple Burst finish that really stands out.  The 3D effect of the wood grain comes through in the photos but is even better in person.   We've seen some impressive tops from PRS but this one may be the best we've had.  The rest of the body is Swamp Ash, with Natural Binding that has been stained to match the top.  The back of the guitar was finished with Black wash with Violet grain filler, creating an unbelievable aesthetic.  You don't see this often, and when the opportunity to have access to create something unique, we had to go for it.  We also extended that to the neck, so the entire back of the guitar matches.  The fretboard is Ebony with Curly Maple. All around, it's a great look, with the highest quality of woods.

To complete the aesthetic, we went with some rather unique inlays for the neck and headstock.  PRS aficionados will recognize it as Bats in Flight.  This is a lot different than the normal bird inlays you see on most PRS guitars - this helps to create a darker vibe.  The finishing touch is how the guitar is topped off.  On the headstock, you'll see Nosferatu making an appearance, completing this Vampire McCarty 594.

Other nice touches we added were a matching truss rod cover, and back plates to perfectly match the back of the body.  All of this adds to the custom one-off nature of this guitar - this is the sort of thing that makes a Private Stock build so special.

The neck has a Pattern Vintage profile, fitting for a McCarty 594, and is very comfortable.  The 22-fret fretboard has a 10" radius, encouraging easy bending.  You'll stay in tune with Tweaked Phase III Locking tuners (Ebony buttons) and a PRS Two-Piece bridge.

We chose the PRS 58/15 LT (“low turn”) pickups, which are vintage-inspired with exceptional clarity. Designed to capture the sweetness of vintage single coils and the warmth of late 1950’s humbuckers, these pickups are lively and open with focused midrange and balanced treble and bass.  Utilizing PRS's TCI (Tuned Capacitance and Inductance) technology, the response of a pickup can be precisely shaped and sculpted with unmatched sonic accuracy. The 58/15 LT pickups offer a slightly milder output compared to traditional 58/15, producing a great representation of the classic humbucker design.

Other features include Ebony pickup rings, Black Lampshade knobs, and a Bone nut.  The guitar comes with a beautiful Black Paisley case, and includes a certificate of authenticity.
