The Tone King Gremlin is a premium, 5-watt boutique all-tube guitar amplifier designed to replicate vintage American tones at bedroom-friendly volumes.  We just took this one in and are quickly falling in love this little head. 

There is nothing quite comparable to the sounds produced by a fully cranked blackface or tweed-era guitar amplifier; however, achieving those tones at lower volume levels has become increasingly challenging — until Tone King came out with the Gremlin, a 5-watt all-tube head. Whether you are playing at home or trying to keep pace with a drummer, the Gremlin delivers ample vintage character to inspire your playing.

 The amplifier features two inputs and a straightforward control layout, making it easy to discover your desired tone. Connect to the Rhythm channel for a more blackface sound characterized by bell-like highs and enhanced headroom. Alternatively, if you prefer a tweed-style drive, the Lead input may suit your taste better. With the integrated Ironman II power attenuator, you can relish the rich tone of a fully driven power tube at a volume that won’t disturb your neighbors. If you are inclined towards the American essence of cranked vintage amplifiers, the Gremlin holds the key to your tone.

Features

  • Dual Voices: The amplifier features two separate inputs. The Rhythm Channel delivers crisp, glass-like Fender Blackface tones. The Lead Channel provides a warmer, driven Fender Tweed-era crunch. 
  • Built-in Attenuation: It includes an onboard Ironman II Power Attenuator on the back panel. This allows players to crank the tubes for natural power-amp saturation without waking the neighbors. 
  • Tube Complement: It runs on two 12AX7 preamp tubes paired with a single, highly touch-sensitive KT66 power tube (or 5881 depending on manufacturing run). 
  • Speaker: The combo configuration houses a custom-voiced 12" Celestion 870 speaker specifically tuned for this compact cabinet
