Taylor Special Edition 214ce Tigerwood Shaded Edgeburst Acoustic Electric Guitar With Case
New from Taylor, a limited editon acoustic: the 214ce Tigerwood in Shaded Edgeburst. A small number of these will be made for independent dealers only, and we're happy to have one here for you now.
Goncalo Alves, commonly known as Tigerwood, is an incredibly distinctive lumber species. Its golden-brown to deep red-brown hues are interspersed with blackish-brown streaks, creating the tiger-like streaks that give it its name.
The Grand Auditorium, body shape is what Taylor is known for best. This one has a Venetian cutaway and is loaded with Taylor's own ES2 pickup/preamp system for your ampification needs. It's a stunning looking guitar, with a gloss top and satin back & sides, plus an easy to play neck.
The guitar comes with a hardshell case as an added bonus.
From Andy Powers himself, here's the official word:
It’s also known as Goncalo Alves. Tigerwood is easier to say. The color tends to run from a darker and stripey version of koa to a lighter shade of rosewood. The tigerwood name comes from characteristic stripes of color. It tends to be harder and heavier than Koa or Mahogany, nearly like east Indian rosewood, but with a different grain structure. On a spectrum of sounds, it’ll lean more toward a rosewood like tone due to its density, but with less mid scooping-it’ll be a little more balanced in the midrange like koa due to the grain structure.
