We have a legendary guitar here - the Music Man Eddie Van Halen Signature.  Ernie Ball produced it as Eddie's first signature model from 1991 to 1995.  There's quite a bit of history with it, starting with how Eddie got hooked up with Ernie Ball after his deal with Kramer, and ending with his move to Peavey.  That led to the Wolfgang model, and eventually his partnership with Fender to create the EVH brand.  But it all stems back to this period in the 1990's.  And, for many players and collectors, the original guitars are the most desirable.  They can be hard to come by, so were thrilled to see this one come in the door.

Here we have a great example from 1995, in a rare color - it's Translucent Purple.  Most of what you see out there is Red, Gold or Sunburst, and also priced extremely high.  That makes this one a great find.

Built in San Luis Obispo at the Ernie Ball Shop, it was created in direct partnership with Eddie Van Halen, to his exact specs.  In the words of the man himself, "I endorsed the guitar I used to play. I designed this one....Big difference".

The guitar features a Basswood body topped with a beautiful Figured Maple top, offset with cream binding.  The transparent finish shows the wood grain nicely.  The body is light and ergonomically please, making it easy to keep strapped on for hours.  The Figured Maple neck and fretboard adds an exquisite touch and is also supremely comfortable to play, especially with the finish - it's a hand-rubbed gun stock oil and special wax blend.  It's a 5-bolt sculpted neck joint and 25.5" scale length.  The fretboard has 22 frets and a 10" radius so bending is a breeze all the way into the higher register.

It's loaded with a great set of pickups, designed by Eddie - they are DiMarzio Custom Zebra humbuckers (B1 and N1).  He worked directly with Larry DiMarzio to create these.  They're medium-high output, provided clear dynamics and rich harmonics, designed specifically to work with this model.  We found them to be super versatile, capable of being used in a variety of settings - whether you're playing chords or riffs, or straight shredding, these pickups can handle it.

A key feature is the licensed Floyd Rose Double Locking Tremolo with offset saddles and a brass block.  So, dive bomb to your heart's content.  The locking nut and Schaller M6LA tuners will help keep you in tune.  Other features include a single knob configuration and a 3-way toggle pickup selector switch.  

The guitar is in excellent condition, considering it's over 30 years old.  It did get played, so there are finish scratches and a few very small dings but nothing significant.  Overall, it's very clean.  Everything is original, except the case (it was replaced by an aftermarket Gator hardshell).  The tech here that specializes in guitars like this, especially Floyd Rose tremolos, has set it up to play perfectly.

This is a rare find and may go quick - if you're into it, don't sleep on it.
