Used 2006 Fender Custom Shop 1959 Esquire Closet Classic Sonic Surf with OHSC

We don't see a lot of Custom Shop Esquires coming through, and definitely not many as nice as this one.  We just took it in - built in 2006, it's a great recreation of one of Fender's original, simple models.  The Esquire is a single pickup guitar, but as a bonus, this one comes with a Tele conversion kit and two pickguards (white and mint green).  So, you could turn this Esquire into a Telecaster.  In fact, we can do it for you if you want!

The Esquire was the first solid-body guitar sold by Fender, debuting in 1950.  Shortly after its introduction, a two-pickup version came out, was renamed the Broadcaster, then the Telecaster.  Over the years, many players have fallen in love with the simplicity of the Esquire, and the Fender Custom Shop has done an amazing job in recreating this 1959 version.

It's a Closet Classic finish, so you get aging and checking, but no dings or dents like a Relic.  We love how this one was done - they really got it right.  Interestingly, the color is offically listed as Sonic Blue, but to us it looks much greener, more like Surf Green.  Therefore, we calling it "Sonic Surf".  No, that color doesn't officially exist, and yes, we just made that up!  But take a look and you'll see why.

The guitar is unbelievably resonant and smooth playing.  It has a light ash body and a rock solid maple neck.  The 10/56 "V" neck shape provides plenty to grip and is super comfortable.  The rosewood fretboard has the modern touch of a a 9.5" radius, making it easier to bend as you go up into the higher register.

In terms of sound, it's simple: there's one pickup, and it's a Custom Shop Broadcaster bridge pickup.  This gives you the tone of the original design from the early 50's, full of twang and bite, with the ability to clean up nicely.  It's the most requested pickup on Custom Shop Tele's, for good reason - it's the epitome of the classic Tele sound.  

This guitar is in excellent condition and has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.  The original case and Certificate of Authencity is included.   The extra pickup included in the Tele conversion kit is a Custom Shop Twisted Tele neck pickup.  It's a great score at this price and likely to move fast.
