The Esquire was the first solid-body guitar sold by Fender, debuting in 1950.  Shortly after its introduction, a two-pickup version came out, was renamed the Broadcaster, then the Telecaster.  Over the years, many players have fallen in love with the simplicity of the Esquire, and the Fender Custom Shop has done an amazing job in recreating some of the more popular versions.  You don't see them often, so we were happy to see this one come in on trade.

This Custom Shop '59 Esquire in Desert Sand is unbelievably resonant and smooth playing.  We fell in love with the AA Flame Maple neck instantaneously.  Not only does it look good, but it's also super comfortable to play.  The '59 Esquire C neck shape is popular in general (not just on Esquires).  The Handwound 59 Esquire pickup can cut through with a bite when it needs to, but also cleans up nicely, making this guitar surprisingly versatile.   And, it's lightweight - the guitar is only 7.2 lbs.

The guitar has a few small dings on the body - all minor, nothing major, just normal player wear.  It's a thin lacquer finish, so it's no surprise.  Check out the photos to see everything.  If you're someone that will likely be putting your dings on, this one has already been started down that road.

Other features include a vintage bridge with brass saddles, period correct tuning machines, bone nut and a single ply parchment pickguard. Also includes the original tweed hardshell case, bridge cover, strap, cable, polish cloth and certificate of authenticity.
