Used Eastman SB55/V Antique Sunburst with OHSC
You're here because you saw this lovely guitar from Eastman, and its a beautiful instrument. It has a stylish vintage sunburst, worn finish, and musically resonant body with a very responsive attack and super comfortable neck. This guitar features a single P90, and that's all you need for great tone, right?
The SB55/V in Antique Sunburst is a very Junior-esque model that will feel familiar to many. It's a solid, single-cut electric with a 50's spec DogEar Lollar P90, vintage Kluson-style tuners (aged nickel) that are affixed individually (as opposed to 3 on a plate) and a wraparound Faber tailpiece. Compared to the guitar that inspired it, the body is a bit shallower - a slight but noticeable difference that many will enjoy.
Instead of mahogany, the body is a one-piece slab of okume (still part of the mahogany family, but lighter in weight). Also, the neck is okume, with an ebony fretboard. In a bit of a twist, the frets are medium jumbo stainless steel. We were really impressed with the finishing of the frets and fretboard.
The choice of a Lollar P90 was a great move - whether clean or dirty, the guitar sounds great and can a elicity a variety of tones. This is another thing that impressed us. Sometimes a guitar like this can come off as a one-trick pony, but this is one that you can take to any racehorse and count on. The lower output pickup provides a brighter and more defined tone, with great articulation.
This guitar is in excellent condition and comes with its original hardshell case, as well as the Certificate of Authenticity. It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop. If you're in the market for a guitar that gives you classic, vintage feel & sound, without a crazy price tag, but with a high standard for build quality, this is an excellent score.
