Used Fender Crafted in Japan HSS Maple Neck Tele Thinline - Blue Burst With Bag
This Fender Telecaster Thinline in very good condition and in perfect working order. Easily one of the rarest, most versatile, unique and wholly original Telecaster models to be produced by Fender Japan. This model was offered for sale only in the Japanese domestic market. Discontinued and boasting a delightful array of pickup selections. It combines a traditional Tele control plate and smaller pickguard with the semi-hollow ash body of the Thinline model. A five-way pickup selector switch takes full advantage of the pickup compliment. It can be twangy and sparkling, honky and round, or thick and growly with the flip of a switch. The uniquely placed middle pickup pairs perfectly with the humbucker for added clarity or with the hot bridge pickup to create an ideal rhythm guitar tone. Featherweight at 6lbs 12oz, this guitar also takes full advantage of the complex midrange character of the ash body, with the more airy sound attributed to its semi-hollow construction. The nut measures a full 1 11/16" in width, and the headstock retains a classic Tele decal and Kluson-style tuners that turn smoothly and hold pitch well.
All of the electronics work as they should, and the chrome is very clean with only moderate patina around the edges of the ashtray bridge base. The VERY hard to find blue burst finish highlights the prominent grain of the ash body, showing only a few nicks and finish scratches on the body as a whole. The neck profile is very clean, This is an excellent example of a rare, discontinued Tele model made exclusively by Fender Japan and rarely seen outside its country of origin.
