Used Ibanez APEX1/100 Modified Tri-Burst with Case

For those that want to get their inner Freak on a Leash on, we have a freak of guitar for you: this Ibanez APEX 1/100. No, it's not 1 of 100 made (but it's probably the only one out there like it). The 1/100 is a reference to it being an APEX1 and APEX100 combined. As in, the neck is from an APEX1 and the body is from an APEX100. And there's a whole lot more going on too with this 7-string beast...
Let's the start with the neck, which is from an APEX1, so it's a 5-piece maple and wenge APEX Prestige neck. Made in Japan, it's a 24 fret neck, with a rosewood fretboard, pearloid binding and complete with star inlays and the Cancer zodiac symbol at the 12th fret. You get a 16.9" radius and jumbo frets, lending itself to shredding and riffing to the fullest degree.
On to the body, which is from an APEX100, so you get an RG-series style double-cutaway alder body with a Tri-Fade Burst finish. It's solid and quite resonant, but not too heavy - the guitar comes in at 8.2 lbs. It's been outfitted with a Universe mirror pickguard to complete the look.
Now, for everything else - this guitar has been heavily modified, so we'll just list everything here:
- Gotoh tuners
- Ibanez Lo-Pro Edge 7 bridge
- Ibanez 48mm 7-string locking nut
- Stainless locking nut screws
- CTS 500k pots
- Treble bleed on volume control
- 5-way switch
- Neck pickup: DiMarzio Ionizer 7 (DP709) with ceramic magnets (9.24k - DCR)
- Middle pickup: Seymour Duncan Custom Staggered SSL-5
- Bridge pickup: DiMarzio Ionizer 7 (DP711) with ceramic magnets (11.5k - DCR)
So you get a guitar & neck from Korn's James "Munky" Shaffer and pickups (bridge and neck) from Animal as Leaders' Tosin Abasi and Pink Floyd's David Gilmour. Yes, you read that right. The neck pickup features a backed-off output to provide an open, airy tone. The bridge pickup is tuned for a low resonant peak that warms up the high-E string and provides focused, powerful mids so the extended range doesn't wash out in a mix. The Seymour Duncan SSL-5 Custom Staggered is a high-output, overwound single-coil Stratocaster pickup. Originally custom-wound for David Gilmour’s legendary "Black Strat", it features hand-ground Alnico 5 magnets and offers increased sustain, output, and fatness while preserving classic Stratocaster chime.
Somehow we got Korn, Animals as Leaders and Pink Floyd all up in the mix on one guitar. We did say that this is the only one like it to ever exist!
This Ibanez APEX1/100 Modified is in excellent condition and setup to play perfectly by the tech in our shop that helped put it together and do the mods. This is a serious creation here! An aftermarket hardshell case is included. So you need a little Korn in your Universe, plus more, this is the way to get it.
