Used And Vintage Acoustic Guitars

Experience the legendary pre-war Martin tones with this incredible Martin 000-42 Authentic 1939 acoustic. This is without a doubt, one of the most accurate, detailed vintage Martin recreations ever made and it is also no longer in production. From pre-war appointments, wood selection, and timeless construction, this is a Martin that exemplifies what a great acoustic guitar is.

This wonderful and rare instrument is in excellent condition and comes with its original hardshell case.  The techs in our shop have vetted and set it up to play perfectly.  It was painstakingly modeled after a 1939 000-42 formerly owned and played by acoustic blues guitarist, Kenny Sultan, and now housed in the Martin Museum.

The Martin 000-42 Authentic 1939 comes with an all-solid Adirondack spruce top paired with all-solid Madagascar Rosewood back and sides.  It also has the VTS (Vintage Tone System), which is a process used by Martin to accelerate the aging of their guitar tops and braces, mimicking the characteristics of vintage instruments, especially those from the 1930s. This process allows Martin to create guitars that have the look, feel, and sound of older, well-worn instruments, even though they are new.

The tone wood combination and its Authentic 1939 Rearward-Shifted X-Brace bracing provides excellent resonance and projection with a balanced warmth that brings to life this Martin's full range of tones. You will love its comfortable 000 body size. The top is exquisitely bound with a multi-stripe abalone inlay and abalone rosette. The mahogany neck comes with an ebony fingerboard adorned with Authentic 1939 Style 42 Snowflake inlays with faux tortoise side dots. The fingerboard is tastefully bound with a grained ivoroid.

With its ebony bridge with bone nut and saddle you get peak resonance and stability. And its vintage-style Butterbean tuners keeps you in tune.

Since Martin no longer makes this model, it's a rare find and likely to go fast, relative to the price.  We were thrilled to take it in and will be sad to see it go!  This is one of the best acoustic guitars we have in the house.
