Used And Vintage

If you’ve been looking for a Boogie that’s small enough to carry in one hand and still does a lot, this Mesa/Boogie Fillmore 25 is worth a look. It’s a 1x12 combo with two footswitchable channels, built around a pair of 6V6 power tubes, and this one is in excellent shape.

The Fillmore 25 puts Mesa’s vintage-leaning side in a compact package. It runs 18 watts clean and 23 watts max, which is plenty for practice, rehearsal and most small gigs. The 6V6s give it a sweet, touch-responsive breakup, and the five 12AX7 preamp tubes cover the range from clean to heavy gain.

Both channels are identical, and each one has three modes: Clean, Drive and HI. Each channel has its own gain, treble, mid, bass, presence, reverb and master, so you can set up a clean sound and a lead sound and switch between them with the included footswitch. You also get a spring reverb, which is a real tube-driven one, plus an effects loop for your delay and modulation pedals.

The speaker is a 12" Celestion Custom 90. It’s the “Black Shadow” model, a tight, controlled speaker that keeps the low end from flopping around. The cabinet is Baltic birch with black vinyl, and the whole amp weighs about 35 lbs, which makes it easy to get in and out of a car.

One thing worth knowing: the handle on this amp has been replaced with a wider, better one. It’s a small change, but it makes carrying it more comfortable. Look through the photos to see the amp and handle up close.

This one comes with the footswitch, so you can change channels right away. Come to Truetone Music to check it out, or order right here to have it shipped to your home.
