Vintage 1920's Gibson TB-1 Trapdoor Tenor Banjo Sunburst With OHSC

We have an incredible vintage Gibson tenor banjo that is not only rare, but also a truly amazing instrument.  It hails from the 1920's.  Gibson didn't start making banjos until 1917, and the "trap door" back didn't become a feature until the 1920's.  It predates the famous Mastertone era; we're thinking that it's from the early 1920's.  Yep, that's the beginning of the Roaring Twenties, the Jazz Age, the Prohibition Era, and much more....the world was changing fast, it was before the Great Depression, and music was exploding with innovation.

Back to this banjo - this is an exceptional vintage piece that is quite rare and filled with a dynamic tone that is unlike any tenor banjo.  This is due to the big, hollow brass tone ring, a 10.5" rim and a resonator design on the back that allows options.  The trap door features gives you a mellow, warmer sound when closed, and a punchier, louder sound when open.  That makes this a truly versatile banjo that can be used in a variety of settings.

Be sure to check on the photos now - you'll see the snakehead headstock, beautiful sunburst paint job on the neck, as well as on the back, and the original ivoroid pickguard.  You'll also notice how great of condition it's in, especially considering this instrument is over 100 years old!

The original case is included as well.  Setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop, it's ready to go.  For anyone looking for a vintage tenor banjo, this Gibson TB-1 from the 1920's is an amazing find, especially at this price.
