Used And Vintage

Here's a rare find, a mid-50's Kay K-136.  These are hard to find and collectable.  The roots of rock and roll, blues and rockabilly are incapsulated in it.

The instrument is a short scale, solid wood, neck through design with a single pickup and a great feeling vintage style fat neck.  It's sort of similar in playability to the Harmony Stratotone H44, but the pickup is closer to the bridge and makes an incredible difference.  There is nothing that sounds like these guitars!  For raunchy blues, cleaning picking and a variety of other styles, this guitar guitar really brings it.

This particular instrument is original except for the brass bridge, tailpiece, tuners and knobs.  Also, someone took the standard green finish and converted it to white and black, but it kept its art deco design.  We find this to be a very cool look and think you will as well.   It is likely that the refin was done many, many decades ago as there is certainly decades of aging and player wear on the guitar.

The techs in our shop have set it up to play perfectly.  The original case is long gone; we paired it with a gig bag.  This is a great find.
