Vintage 1962 Fender Stringmaster Dual 8-String Console Lap Steel With Legs And OHSC

Here's something you won't see often: a super nice 1962 Fender Stringmaster D8 Dual 8-String.  This is an iconic, professional-grade console lap steel guitar.  Widely celebrated for its rich sustain, innovative electronics, and historic role in country, western swing, and Hawaiian music, it's quite the find here.

Released during Fender's golden pre-CBS era, this dual-neck masterpiece represents one of the pinnacles of non-pedal steel guitar design.  It features two independent necks, allowing you to tune to two entirely different keys (commonly C6 and E13) without stopping to retune.  Designed with a short 22.5" scale length, it sports 29 screen-printed fret markers on a stylized fretboard.  It was with a solid, one-piece ash body, resulting in exceptional resonance and sustain.  Here we have a Blonde one, in excellent condition - there are few marks and other signs of age but overall it's in great shape.

The electronics layout is what set the Stringmaster apart from what came before it.  You get dual pickups for each neck, hidden beneath a chrome hand rest.  To shape the tone, this lap steel has a blend pot system - rather than a standard toggle switch, it features a specialized balance/blend control knob. The bridge pickup remains continuously active, while the blend knob allows players to smoothly sweep the neck pickup into the mix to alter the warmth and bite.  It includes a heavy-duty neck-selector toggle switch alongside master volume and master tone controls to manage output cleanly

For hardware & accessories, ths Stringmaster is equipped with chrome bridge covers, a hand-rest control plate, and an adjustable, threaded four-leg stand system.  Additionally, the original hardshell case is included.
