Used And Vintage

It's 1963, the Beatles are recording their first hits, Chet Atkins was signed and recording legendary tracks with RCA/Victor, and this amazing guitar was just made. Here for your listening and playing pleasure is this wonderful vintage Gretsch G6117 Anniversary model in Sunburst! This guitar is everything that has made Gretsch guitars one of the most popular archtop hollow and semi-hollow electric guitars ever made. This particular one is an outstanding find.

The Double Anniversary model debuted in 1958 to celebrate the company’s 75th anniversary. Many of the early versions didn’t feature a nameplate on the headstock - this one has it. In 1963, Gretsch added a bound fretboard and thumbnail fretboard inlays, and discontinued the stereo output option.

This legendary instrument comes with a resonant 16" wide, 2.5-inch deep hollow body made of laminated maple with an arched top and back. The body and the neck are bound with cream binding. The set neck comes with a comfy neck profile and a Brazilian rosewood fingerboard with "thumbnail" pearloid inlays and a 24.5-inch scale length. The headstock comes with a vintage "Anniversary Model" metal badge. There is also its gold pickguard with "Gretsch" logo.

You are blessed with great tones from its pair of HiLo'Tron single-coil pickups. These pickups give you even brighter, more dynamic, articulate tones compared to the humbucking Filter'Trons. Take control of your tones with a master volume, individual pickup volume controls, 3-way pickup selector and vintage 3-way tone selector.

The hardware of a Gretsch is just as impressive as its body and pickups. There are the vintage tuners that keep you tune with style. Its vintage Space control bridge with an upgrade of an aftermarket Bigsby vibrato bridge which is an expressive tremolo system that'll stay in tune and keep intonation.

This Gretsch G6117 Double Anniversary is in great condition especially for its age. There is checking/cracking in the binding but it's intact, and of course there are is some honest player wear.  Considering that the guitar is over 60 years, it's in great shape - this one has withstood the test of time.  It's all original (with the addition of the aftermarket Bigsby) and comes with its original hardshell case.

Held in a private collection for years, this wonderful vintage Gretsch is now available.  Vetted and setup to play perfectly by the the top vintage luthier in our shop, this guitar is ready to go to it's next collection.
