Vintage 1980 Rickenbacker 4001 Bass Azureglo with OHSC

Rickenbacker fans rejoice, as here's a rare find. Up for sale is one of the most iconic basses ever, it's a Rickenbacker 4001 - and it's one you don't see often, in Azureglo. These were only made for a few years, so they are hard to find. This one in particular was built in February of 1980, a glorious year in the world (to some). It's withstood the test of time for 45 years, and is now ready for the next 45.
This bass brings you excellent midrange bass tones with a cutting attack and articulation. You get a resonant deep double-cut neck thru body. This gives you plenty of sustain and tone. If you want a punchy and powerful bass, a Rickenbacker 4001 is it. There's a reason that Lemmy, Geddy and Geezer rocked one - not to mention players as diverse as Paul McCartney, Cliff Burton and Rick James all did as well.
The 4001 comes with two different pickup designs, a "toaster pickup" in the neck with a larger bridge pickup mounted on a metal plate. The neck features a sleek gloss with a slim profile with a gloss fingerboard with its distinct triangular inlays. There are individual volume and tone controls for each pickup with a 3-way selector. You also get a high mass bridge that gives you excellent sustain and tone.
Here we have a rather special one, in Azureglo. This is a super cool color and hard to find - what we have hear is a rarely seen beast of a bass.
This bass is in good condition and with an extra flavor in the form of honest player wear. Some pay extra for a new instrument made to look old. Here's one that isn' too old (45 isn't all that old, right?) but it has the natural wear that one may excpect for a bass that was put to good use. See photos for a details. It's all original, other than the pickguard - it came to us with a cracked one, so we made a new one here in our shop. It comes complete with the original hardshell case (tagged for "Avi"), as well as the pickup cover.
It's been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop and is a great find for anyone that appreciates rare Rickenbackers like this!
