 A unique twist to a vintage-styled Jazz Bass that has rarely been seen!

The Fender Jazz Bass is appreciated for its warm, engaging swing in the neck position and its throaty, present definition in the bridge position. This faithful replication of the 1964 Jazz, with a few tweaks, captures both of those voices perfectly.  The main feature that makes it unique is an all rosewood neck, which until recently was only available on Masterbuilt instruments.  We chose to have it done with a gloss finish applied, giving it a slick feel and high-end sheen.  This neck has instantly become a favorite amongst all of the basses here.

Another aspect of this bass that will catch your eye is the color: it's called "Target 3-Tone Sunburst", is one of the best looking sunburst finishes we've seen.  The genesis of this particular style of sunburst stems from a Custom Shop Bass VI we were doing for a very particular customer that wanted the mid-60's style of sunburst, with vibrant yellow, orange and red, and defined separation all the way into the brown and black edges.  It came out so well that we asked if we could do it on other instruments - and that's how this bass was born.

Two vintage Jazz single-coil pickups provide a variety of tones from classic Jazz Bass smoothness, to funky slap, to more aggressive modern sounds. The quartersawn U-shaped neck and 9.5" radius and Medium Jumbo frets gives it a comfortable, vintage feel with modern playability.  The alder body is very resonant, and this bass quite light - it weighs in at just 8.7 lbs.

Bass players know that the Fender Custom Shop makes some of the world's greatest basses, and this 1964 reissue Jazz Bass shows why.  This is an amazing looking, sounding and feeling bass that we spec'ed out specifically to showcase the all rosewood neck as well as the Target 3-Tone Sunburst color choice, which really pops out with the NOS nitro lacquer finish.  When was the last time you saw a Jazz bass like this?
