The Gretsch Custom Shop is where the time-honored legacy reaches its creative apex. No instruments epitomize the extraordinary expertise and attention to detail of Gretsch’s most trusted hands like Custom Shop instruments. From modern versions of legendary Gretsch instruments to artist tribute models and specially requested one-off guitars, the Gretsch Custom Shop takes “That Great Gretsch Sound” to an entirely new plane, but also preserves and perfects it.

Truetone Music is proud to have a long and close relationship with Gretsch, especially with the Custom Shop.  Every year, a special collection of guitars is presented at an exclusive dealer event, with the ability to bid and win some of the most impressive guitars ever created in Gretsch's 140 year history.   This is one of them, by Masterbuilder Chad Henrichsen, that we were fortunate enough to score.  We are proud to present the G6130-CST 1955 Two-Tone Tuxedo Roundup.

Featuring an NOS (New Old Stock) lacquer finish over a stained Knotty Pine top and genuine Mahogany back & sides; this guitar is like nothing else you've ever seen.  While the top is stained transparent black, the back, sides and neck are white.  That's where the "two-tone" moniker comes from.  But that's not it, and it gets better.  The sides showcase a stunning black leather trim, intricately created and masterfully applied.  It's bordered by 3-ply reverse binding and purfling on the top.  To retain the old school Roundup aesthetic, the body has been branded with the "G" logo.  The headstock is rather impressive too, as it matches the body and has a mother of pearl script logo and Steerhead inlay.   As a bonus, the guitar includes a Gretsch Belt Buckle Tailpiece.

It has a super comfortable Mahogany neck with a "C" profile, topped with an Ebony fingerboard and adorned with Pearloid Western Motif inlays.  White side dots add a nice touch, matching the white parts of the body.  22 vintage frets and a 12" radius complete this amazingly easy to play neck, and it's topped with Gotoh tuning machines.  As much as this guitar stands out as a statement piece, it's also meant to be played, and does it ever.  

This G6130-CST has a unique pickup configuration: it has a TV Jones Filter'Tron bridge pickup and a Seymour Duncan Dynasonic neck pickup.  In some ways, this gives you the best of two eras of Gretsch: the early to mid 50's glassy tone of bright output, as well as the vintage twang and growl characteristic of the late 50's.  You'll have the ability to produce gorgeous cleans, as well unruly higher-gain sounds.  For added versatility, this guitar has a tone knob with Treble Bleed Wiring, "saving" your tone.
