Used And Vintage Electric Guitars

Truetone Music has been selected to take in a special collection of instruments from a very special long-time customer and friend of ours.  A collector of only unique, rare, vintage and high-end guitars & amps, he amassed a serious collection of these years.  For the first time, these pieces are available on the market.

Here we have an unbelievably clean 1969 Gibson ES-340 TD, all original and in top notch condition.  This is quite the score.  The ES-340 is a hard model to find, and even more so if you're looking for an all original and clean one.

In early 1969, Gibson introduced the ES-340 TD, making this guitar one of the first.  This model was more expensive and very similar to their more popular ES-335 models but instead had a birch body, maple neck, and unique electronics.  This included a master volume and mixer controls (the toggle switch had settings of pickups in-phase, pickups out-of-phase, and standby).   However, this guitar has been converted to standard wiring - this was a common move, as most players preferred the regular switching and not the less useful original setup.
These Gibson guitars were made in various colors, however most of them were made in walnut or natural finishes.  The ES 340 was and still is an outstanding guitar and inspired many guitar players.  It was short-lived though, being discontinued in 1973.  Production was limited, making today's find a rare bird.

The ES-340 TDN we present here ish has the original finish, and it's in excellent condition, especially considering its age.  There are a few dings on the body and wear on the headstock, but nothing major - check out the photos to see everything.  Over the years, the patina of the finish has aged quite nicely, just as you'd want with a classic vintage guitar like this.  The pickups, bridge, etc. are all original - it may be a replacement switch tip and some knobs, from long ago.  The original hardshell case is included.

The guitar has been vetted by our top vintage expert and luthier, and has been setup to play perfectly.  This one is quite light too - just 7.7 lbs.  The medium neck profile is very comfortable to play, and the frets have plenty of life left in them.  The pickups sound amazing - full, rich and very balanced.

This ES-340 TDN is quite the find.  According to Gibson's shipping records, only 240 of this model were put to market in 1969.  We've never had one in here and don't expect to see many, if any, again.
