Used And Vintage Electric Guitars

Every now & then, and very special guitar for a very special customer comes back around and is made available again.  Rarely is it as cool as this one - but then again, not many guitars are as cool as this one.  We were excited to see this one back in our hands again, and now ready to present it on the open market for the first time.

It's a Fender Custom Shop Masterbuilt Dennis Galuszka 1960's Rosewood Telecaster with Bigsby.  While you may have seen a Rosewood Tele before, you like likely haven't seen one with a Bigsby until now.  That's because Fender has done one as a regular model, even out of the Custom Shop.  This one was spec'ed out and custom built for a customer of ours back in 2015.  After lovingly caring for it for 7 years, here brought it back to trade in for a Masterbuilt Gretsch.  Considering he has another Rosewood Tele (no Bigsby), this one was out of the mix for him.  That creates an opportunity for you!

The NOS finish package looks great on this guitar, preserving the natural finish that showcases the beautiful grain of the rosewood body.  We've had a lot of Rosewood Tele's here, and this is one of the nicest looking ones we've seen.  Of course, it's a stunner with the matching all rosewood neck.  It's not too heavy, considering what it is, as the chambering of the body really helps.  The neck is really comfortable - and this one is unique in the neck shape: it has a 52 "U" neck profile, which is normally not seen on a Rosewood Tele.

There are two custom features that really sets this guitar apart.  Obviously the addition of a Bigsby is the main thing.  That makes this Rosewood Tele singularly unique, and adds another function to the guitar.  Under the hood is where you'll find the other unique feature: the pickups.  The customer that spec'ed this guitar out to have Seymour Duncan Antiquity pickups.  Specifically, see below for more details.

This guitar is in excellent condition, and has been setup to play perfectly by the techs in our shop.  It comes with the original case, as well as the Certificate of Authenticity, cable, strap and polish cloth.  If you're in the market for a unique Tele, just collect Masterbuilt guitars, or just want something special, you've found a winner.  This unique bird won't stay here long.

Neck Position:  Antiquity II Tele

The Antiquity II Tele vintage Telecaster bridge pickup is built with specially calibrated, hand-ground Alnico 5 rod magnets, with the period-correct pole stagger. The Antiquity II Tele Rhythm pickup also uses hand-ground Alnico 5 rod magnets, as well as a special coil wind to deliver a clear, bright, and balanced Tele neck tone. There is plenty of warmth as well as crisp detail that makes this a great pickup for players who use a hybrid picking style or do lots of string bending. In fact, Seymour wound the rhythm pickup as the perfect match for the unique picking style and intricate bends he used on his own mid-’60s maple-neck Tele.  With the Antiquity II Tele vintage pickups, you can get the look and sound of the ultimate ’60s Telecaster. We use custom aged, gray bottom flatwork, brass plated steel bottom plate, vintage push-back cloth wire, and each pickup is lacquered and wax potted, just like the originals.

 Bridge Position: Antiquity '55 Tele

After early production of the flat-pole Telecaster lead pickup, in 1954 Fender began to manufacture pickups with raised D and G poles to provide a more even string response and output for those guitars with a 7.25″ radius fretboard. With the Antiquity Tele 55 you get the same bright, twangy tone as our flat-pole Antiquity Tele Lead but with a little more edge.

The neck model’s bass response is full and round, and will add richness to your chords, while the specially calibrated hand-ground Alnico 5 rod magnets, and custom coil winding give the treble a smoother, more musical attack. It’s great for big, bold rhythm playing, and percussive enough for classic country-style chicken pickin’.

A no-brainer upgrade to any Telecaster, each Antiquity Tele 55 is hand-fabricated and scatter-wound in our Custom Shop, and all parts are aged to give the look and sound of a pickup that has been played for decades. We use vintage-style push-back cloth wire, and they are all lacquered and potted in lamp black paraffin wax, just like they were in the ’50s.
